Jacksonville was originally inhabited by the Timucua Indians. In 1564, it was the site of the French colony of Fort Caroline. It was established in 1822, a year after the United States acquired the Colony of Florida from Spain and named after the Andrew Jackson, the first military governor of the Florida Territory and the 7th president of the US.
Jacksonville is the largest city by area and population in Florida. It is centered along the banks of the St. Johns River and is a major military and civilian port.
It has a population of over 1.3 million and just elected it's first African/American mayor-Alvin Brown
It has it's own NFL team, minor league baseball team and an AFL team among others.

under the Fuller Warren Bridge. They have food, farmers market, vendors and musicians.

Here is the minor league baseball team-The Jacksonville Suns. There schedule is from April toSeptember and they have themed nights. This happen to be Pirate Night. They won on a last inning home run.
ST AUGUSTINE
St. Augustine was founded in 1565 by Pedro Menendez de Aviles. It is
know as "The Oldest City in the US", another title it holds is "Ancient
City". It is located 40 miles south of Jacksonville and is one of the
most charming little cities in America. See for yourself in these
